A new program by the government aims to promote the sales of electric two- and three-wheelers. Up to July 2024 the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) 2024 is available for four months. The scheme will go into effect on April 1 and last for four months. The aim of this initiative is to make it easier to use two-wheelers, three-wheelers and electric rickshaws.
There would be help for almost 3.3 lakh buyers of two-wheelers. The goal is to include over 31,000 three wheelers such as e-rickshaws and e-carts. A subsidy of Rs. 25,000 will be provided for three wheelers and Rs.50,000 will be provided if you purchase a large three-wheeler.

Objective of Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme
The main objective of the scheme is to encourage e-mobility throughout the nation. The government boosted funding from Rs 10,000 crore to Rs 11,500 crore under the Faster Adoption & Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India initiative in February 2024. These demand incentive subsidies would be available for electric two, three and four wheelers sold until 31 March 2024 or will qualify for these demand incentive awards.

Benefits of Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme
The benefits of this scheme is given below:
- The new scheme demonstrates the government’s efforts to enhance electric transportation and reach Net Zero desires.
- The Rs 500 crore that has been allocated will help about 400,000 e2W and e3W over the course of four months.
- Due to the increasing demand, the government has lowered the maximum subsidy level for e2W cars from Rs 22,500 to Rs 10,000 and for e3W vehicles from Rs 111,505 to Rs 50,000 in order to alleviate the financial burden on electric vehicle makers. Both kinds of cars will receive an incentive of Rs 5,000 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).
- The Union government has allocated Rs.500 crore for the EMP initiative 2024.
